What does a Universal Care Giver do?

This role is about much more than completing a list of tasks.  You help our residents continue living as independently as possible while making sure they feel safe, respected, cared for and at home.

Your day may include assisting residents with personal care, medication support within your training and certification, meals, activities and socialization, light apartment cleaning, and other daily needs.

Most importantly, you'll spend your days caring for people and making their lives a little better.

• Assist in planning and implementing daily activity programs for residents
• Lead group and one-on-one activities (e.g., arts and crafts, games, music, exercise)
• Encourage resident participation and social engagement
• Adapt activities to meet physical, cognitive, and emotional needs
• Transport residents to and from activities as needed
• Document participation and maintain activity records in compliance with regulations
• Support special events, holiday celebrations, and community outings
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming activity environment

Qualifications

• Experience in recreational activities, healthcare, or senior services preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with elderly residents, including those with dementia or physical limitations
• Creative, patient, and dependable
• Basic computer skills for documentation

Glarner Lodge is a gorgeous 26 unit Assisted Living Facility located on the New Glarus Home campus in New Glarus Wisconsin. Our team is small and we are mighty.

We are excited to add an individual who is energetic, caring, compassionate and detail oriented to our team. 

Position available: 

• PRN for all shifts
• Part time PM shift

Hourly wage range: $15-19/hour + shift differentials for PM, NOC and Weekend shifts.

The Caregiver is responsible to provide direct care to our tenants while helping them to maintain the highest level of independence possible while promoting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The caregiver provides meals as indicated on the menu, provides activities and socialization, cleans apartments and facility, and seeks to provide the best care possible while protecting the tenants from any form of harm or injury. The caregiver job duties are executed in accordance with the current Federal, State, and local standards, as well as other guidelines and regulations governing this facility. You will also be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or nurse program coordinator.
